Viaflex®
The Viaflex® profiles P10 (97 mm height) and P15 (150 mm height) are ideally suited for edging beds, for cycle and footpath borderings and for roof greening. They can be laid easily and in any shape, and do not require much material or special tools. Despite their low weight they are extremely robust and do not decay, crack or rust unlike wood, plastic or steel. Gentle curves along the profiles make them safe to handle during installation and maintenance. In addition to the natural aluminium version, the 97 mm profile is also available in anodised black.
The special profile is not just very robust, as already mentioned, it also means that the profiles can be connected with screws or rivets. Connecting elements are available for both profile heights. They do not have to be used, however, because the profiles can simply be slid into one another. This means that you can vary the shape between straight lines, arcs and circles. The need for accurate sawing work is therefore kept to a minimum. Machine curved full circles are also available for profile type P10 in addition to the connectors (for flush mounting) and various corner and T-elements. Both profile types come with profile anchors and ground pegs for additional ground anchoring.
Your advantages at a glance:
- Easy and time-saving laying (approx. 1 – 2 mm under the cutting edge of the lawn mower)
- Corrosion-resistant and recyclable aluminium alloy
- Resistant to mechanical stresses and weathering influences
- Flexible profile that can be easily shaped into arcs, curves or corners in two heights
- Wide range of accessories for many different designs
- Border areas do not dry out
- Saves water because water does not leak out on the sides
- Simplified edging maintenance because there is less overgrowth
Variant with profile bracket
Installation Notes profile types P10 and P15 for bededging
- No more than one third of the profile height (P10/15N) should protrude above the ground or the surface of the path.
- The profiles can be installed by pressing or hammering them into the ground. They can be further secured with the (optional) aluminium stakes (EN30/40) or 90° profile brackets (PH80) for use in soil or a concrete bed.
- The profiles are connected by inserting the profile ends into each other on the guide rails or by using shock connectors (V10/15N) respectively profile brackets into which the profile ends are inserted. Shock connectors – located behind the profile – allow a uniform, aesthetically pleasing front to be created.
- The profiles can be quickly and easily cut to length with a conventional hacksaw as needed. Care should be taken to ensure a clean cut.
- When laying on lawns, please consider the cutting height of lawnmowers!
Installation alternatives with and without aluminium stakes
- Using a spade or similar implement, make a V-shaped channel in which the profile will subsequently be placed. Using a rubber mallet or wooden block, hammer the profile evenly into the ground. If necessary, dig out more of the soil or loosen it with a spade. Large stones and other solid objects should be removed. The profile can be anchored in the ground using aluminium stakes (EN30/40).
- If the profiles are to be used for bordering footpaths or cycle paths, they should be installed after removal of the topsoil. They should also be fixed in the ground or in concrete spot or strip foundations using aluminium stakes. After the sections have been installed and, if applicable, the concrete foundations have set, the sub-base and top surface of the path are laid.
- The stake can be driven behind and below the upper edge of the Viaflex® profile using targeted, angled blows with a mallet.
Installation method with 90° profile brackets
- The profile brackets (PH80) are pushed onto the profile. Depending on the surface and the shape of the profile, around 3 to 5 brackets can be used per running metre. The profile, along with the profile brackets, is then laid down on the flat surface.
- Depending on the application and structural conditions, the profile brackets can be secured with steel stakes (EN18/23ST), screwed in place or stuck with weather-resistant, UV-stable special glue (WFB310), it is vital to ensure a flat, clean surface for applications such as roof greening.
